Underwater Florals is a project inspired by the floristry funerary practice of refreshing wilted flowers to be used in memorial arrangements for the brief time they are needed. The blooms are given a water bath to refresh the leaves and petals so that they will last a bit longer for their last chance to be seen before they end up in the compost pile. In refreshing some garden roses to last a little longer, I found the air bubbles as the blossoms danced around in the swirly water from the faucet. As they floated and drifted in sinks, bathtubs and pools, they were photographed as a personal project to remember my favorite arrangements. They are offered for sale in limited editions of 100 each for $125 printed on aluminum so that their watery display comes to life realistically.
